A TASTE OF THE CROWN

Each month we will feature area restaurants and local caterers that are popular with the Charlotte Community. Our resident foodie, Chef Bond, will test out her pallet at the restaurant and blog about it.

Nan Byron’s

This quaint new age restaurant is in the very heart of Dilworth and South End. They offer a great atmosphere in which you can have any type of event whether it is a lunch business meeting or an anniversary dinner with the entire family in the private dining area.

This restaurant offers a unique experience where they change their menu around to fit the season but often keep their best sellers. My favorite selections are the Smoked Pork Spring Rolls, Seared Sea Scallops, and their Pork Chops.  The Smoked Pork Spring Rolls are sold at $10 a great price for a savory appetizer such as these. My favorite entrees are the $22 succulent Pork Chops served with cheddar grits, caramelized pineapple, fried jalapenos, and bourbon mustard glaze and the tender $27 Seared Sea Scallops served chick pea frittes, caramelized brussels sprout pedals, and toasted orange beurre blanc. These flavor combinations really take your taste buds to the moon and back. For dessert make sure you try Nan’s Banana Pudding or the Hazelnut Chifon Cake both will take you to a heavenly place. If you ever get the chance please also try their delicious Brunch.

Tip of the Month:

After working with garlic, rub your hands vigorously on your stainless steel sink for 30 seconds before washing them. It will remove the odor.

Fun Food Hacks:

Use a Waffle Iron for Hashbrowns.

Cut decorative shelf paper to fit your refrigerator shelves. Cleaning bonus: If you cover the shelves with Press-n-Seal plastic wrap, just rip it off and replace it when the shelves get dirty.
